We work
with A1 Web Design to allocate Internet domain names to new and
existing companies. The following information has been
provided by A1 Web Design.
What
is a domain name?
The common part of an
e-mail address and a web site address. It is the part of an
e-mail address which appears after the "@" sign, and also the
part of a web site address which appears after the "www." Ideally your
company should have an e-mail address such as mail@xxxxx.com,
and a web site address such as www.xxxxx.com,
where xxxxx represents the name of your company
Why
should a new company have a domain name allocated?
More and more new
companies are now having their domain names allocated at formation, because:
-
Money can
be saved on printing costs. Too many companies have been
formed without a domain name in the first instance. They soon find
that they need an e-mail address and perhaps also a web site
address. Getting these allocated from the outset can prevent your
having to arrange for your stationery to be re-designed and re-printed. Your
domain addresses should appear on your letter-headings, invoices,
compliment slips, business cards, marketing literature and
advertisements, and perhaps also on company vehicles.
-
A new business without an e-mail address can seem as out of date these
days, as a business without a fax or mobile 'phone number.
